Course Description

Adobe After Effects offers a powerful side where code controls animation. You can automate animations, remove keyframes, create complex effects and work more efficiently with no programming experience.

An expression is a block of JavaScript code that modifies an animatable property. Expressions are useful in many cases in motion design.

  • You can create continuous, repetitive, and reactive motions
  • Automate animations
  • Avoid excessive keyframes
  • Set up rigs

This class will cover 11 different expressions, so you can understand their purpose and how to use them. You don't even need to know how to write JavaScript. You'll also see examples of how I use expressions within real projects. These expressions will allow you to use them in your animations to achieve results that were previously impossible or extremely difficult.

Once you feel comfortable using these expressions in your work you can move on and learn how to create your own expressions. This class can be used as a great introduction to the advanced topic expressions, which can open up a whole new customizable side of Adobe After Effects.
