Course Description

This series of MotionBuilder tutorials and Maya tutorials will show you how to combine a MotionCaptured Performance and Keyframe Animation in MotionBuilder. This course demonstrates how to add animation to performance-captured sequences that we keyframe. It is difficult to ensure that the animation that we hand-key does not detract from the overall illusion of the animation. First, we'll learn how to characterize a custom-skeleton in Maya in order to make it animated in MotionBuilder. The Maya asset will be sent to MotionBuilder, where it will be animated using MotionBuilder's intuitive and powerful retargeting tools. We'll then learn how to modify the performance so that we can keyframe a part of the sequence. The course will end with a lesson on how to export character animation to Maya. This MotionBuilder and Maya training will give you the knowledge you need to be able to easily animate in MotionBuilder. Software required: Autodesk MotionBuilder 2015, Maya 2015.

Skills You Will Gain

What You Will Learn

Afterwards, we'll learn how to alter the performance in a way that allows us to keyframe part of the sequence ourselves

And to conclude the course, we'll learn how to transfer our character animation back to Maya

By the end of this MotionBuilder and Maya training, you'll have the understanding you need to animate comfortably in MotionBuilder

Learn how to blend between a motion-captured performance and keyframe animation in MotionBuilder

Software required Autodesk MotionBuilder 2015, Maya 2015

The difficulty is making sure that the animation we hand-key is done in a way that does not ruin the illusion of the animation as a whole

The objective of this course is to demonstrate how to add animation that we keyframe ourselves to a performance-captured sequence

We'll start by learning how to Characterize a custom skeleton in Maya so that it can be animated in MotionBuilder

We'll then send our Maya asset over to MotionBuilder and animate it using MotionBuilder's robust and intuitive retargeting tools
