Course Description

It is crucial to improve the safety of those who work with "collaborative robots", or cobots, as robots become more interconnected with humans. This course will teach you how to evaluate the safety of a collaborative robot cell and avoid injury. This course covers industry-approved safety standards, technical reports recommendations and best practices from Robotic Industries Association (RIA), Occupational Safety and Health Administrations (OSHA). Before learning about the similarities and differences between cobots, traditional robots, and other machinery, learners are introduced to risk assessments, accidents, and collaborative applications. Material includes key design strategies for reducing collision forces as well as a method for safety testing.

Videos, demonstrations and hands-on activities are used to convey the main concepts. To learn more, please watch the overview video by copying and pasting the following link into your web browser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-NU710WjM0.
