Course Description

Lab Details

This lab will show you how to deploy a virtual machine. Next, we'll explain the purpose of Network Security Groups and apply NSG rules via the Azure Portal.

Duration: 60 minutes

Introduction

What are Azure Network Security Groups?

A network security group is a collection of security rules that allows or deny traffic to and from Azure resources. Each rule can be specified with source, destination, port, as well as protocol.

Within Azure subscription limits, a network security group can contain zero rules or as many as you like.

A Azure network security group filters network traffic between Azure resources and an Azure virtual network. .

NSGs may be linked to subnets or individual instances of virtual machines within a subnet. An NSG can be associated with a subnet. This means that all Virtual Machine instances within the subnet are subject to the ACL rules. You can also restrict traffic to a particular virtual machine by associating an NSG to it directly.
