Course Description

Cultural institutions today face many challenges in managing their operations. The art manager has been a rising figure over the last decades. Think about how you would go to work each day in order to bring together artists and audiences. Managers in the arts play a vital role in changing lives and communities by creative expression.

The course was designed to provide skills and methods for professionals in managing cultural and art institutions.

Learner Objectives

This course has three goals. We will first address the most pressing issue facing cultural institutions, coexistence between curators and managers, providing evidence on when, how and why this can be achieved. We will also discuss contemporary aspects of managing a cultural organization and the challenges that cultural managers need to be prepared for. We will also provide tools and models to help you design and execute the right courses of action that satisfy your customers and visitors. This is how to gain an edge over the rest.

Course Structure

Six sections are divided in the course. The course is divided into six sections. Five are dedicated to managing specific cultural institutions. While the sixth section covers individual interviews with prominent cultural institution managers about specific subjects. This course is enriched by the participation of managers and professionals.

Every module comes paired with an aA quizA or discussion forum to discuss the diversity of heritage management and its complexity as well as the strength of the community we'll build during this course.

A course certificate is only issued if you have successfully completed the quizzes, as described in the Grading Policy Page.
