MASH is a powerful Motion Graphics and Visual Effects plug-in that ships with Maya. It's a procedural system that allows for complex simulations and animations using an intuitive interface.
MASH is commonly used for motion graphics. However, MASH can also be used in VFX because it can create dynamic and realistic simulations. This is especially true when combined the Arnold Renderer.
This course will show you how to create Wi-Fi trails in MASH. It is similar to animations that you might see on Watchdogs, Telecommunications ads, and the opening sequence of BBC News. This course will teach you how to create, texture, render, and composite Wi-Fi trails using Maya and Nuke, and/or After Effects.
These are the prerequisites for this course:
An overview of Maya navigation
A copy of Maya starting in 2017
A copy of Nuke or After Effects
I will then teach you the rest through a single main exercise. These techniques will be practiced in a final summative assignment.
Course outline
Lesson 1: Creating Wi-Fi trails using Mash (A walkthrough on how to simulate texture and render Wi-Fi trails)
Lesson 2: Compositing the shot using Nuke (A breakdown on how the composited shot is put together in Nuke).
Lesson 3: Compositing in After Effects (A breakdown showing how the composited shot is put together in After Effects).
Project Task (This lesson will guide you through the final assignment you have been assigned, summarising all the skills and techniques you have learned in this course.
As you can see in the course outline, there will be a fun assignment that will allow you to put into practice all the skills you have learned. I look forward to seeing your work so please upload it!
I hope you enjoy the course as much I enjoyed creating it!
