Course Description

This specialization will teach you the fundamental skills needed to work with large-scale data using SQL. Perhaps you're new to SQL or just want to get started. Maybe you are familiar with SQL and have used it to query small-scale data using relational databases. This Specialization can help you if you're interested in learning how to query large data using modern distributed SQL engines. While most courses in SQL are focused on traditional relational databases, today's data is too large to store there and too fast to be stored in commercial data warehouses. Instead, data is stored in distributed clusters or cloud storage. These data stores are both cost-effective and infinitely scalable. Distributed query engines such as Hive, Impala and Presto are required to query large data sets in cloud storage and clusters. These open-source SQL engines can query huge datasets. This Specialization is focused on Hive, Impala and other query engines that are most commonly used. This Specialization provides excellent preparation for the Cloudera Certified Associate Data Analyst (CCA) certification exam. This certification credential can be earned by passing a practical exam that uses the same SQL engines this Specialization teaches, Impala and Hive.
