Course Description

This course will teach you how life-threatening and serious illnesses can impact your spiritual and emotional well-being. Patients and their families can feel more stressed when they have to deal with the "new normal" of illness. Learn how to recognize when sadness or grief is more serious and should be addressed. As their support network, family, friends, and community becomes more stretched and sometimes fails, people with serious illnesses can also experience social problems. We will discuss resources and skills that you can use to support patients and their families. We'll discuss advance care planning. This includes sharing decision-making, setting goals for care and writing down care plans.
