Course Description

The creation of modeled assets can be challenging to use in their original state due to the advent and ease-of-use of high-resolution modeling workflows. To create a pipeline-friendly topology, many tools are used. There are many ways to create this geometry. It is important that we choose the right method for us. Maya LT was designed for game workflows and has tools that allow you to create new topologies. We will discuss how to set up the reference model so that the new topology created snaps to the surface. Quad Draw will be used to place points and polygons interactively across the model's surface. As we create a new mesh to represent a bird-like creature, we'll discuss the Shrink Wrap functionality as well as edge flow issues. We will also discuss how we can modify Quad Draw's functions, and explore ways to speed up the retopology process for unusual shapes. You will be able create optimized meshes from your own high-resolution sculptures by the end of this training. Software required: Maya LT 2015.
