Course Description

This course provides the knowledge and skills necessary to properly plan, and then successfully install, a photovoltaic system according to design specifications. This course covers the essential steps of site inspection and evaluation of suitable locations for PV systems. It also includes unique elements that can be used in residential, small-scale, industrial, and utility-scale solar applications. This course examines key design issues, including efficiency, load, mechanical and electrical design, as well as aesthetics, tools, and planning tools. The course teaches students how to calculate a PV system. They also apply their newly acquired knowledge on site selection, layout, code compliance and system components.
