Course Description

This course covers sub-surface exploration (GI), which covers the various stages of soil investigation, including ground investigation planning and interpretation. The geotechnical investigation can be used for small- to large-scale projects, such as slope stability assessment, building foundations, digging systems, roads, tunnelling, off-shore structures, and marine structures. This is done to assess the ground conditions and for predicting any geo-hazards that may occur during the construction phase. Geotechnical engineers plan the project according to the Indian standards (Indian Projects) and International standards.

This course is primarily focused on the following:

  • How to plan soil investigations based on the scope of your project
  • Preparation and submission of technical specifications and Bill of Quantities (BoQs) for GI
  • Based on the project requirements, recommendations for field and laboratory tests
  • Core recovery from rocks and soil sampling
  • Engineering classification and description of soil and rock stratum
  • Review of factual reports: Overview
  • AUTOCAD presents the cross-section for sub-soil profiles
  • Ground engineering parameters can be interpreted from factsual data
  • Geotechnical Interpretative Report - Written

This course will help you to understand engineering parameters and learn about soil investigation techniques. Anyone can begin their career in any geotechnical engineer company if they have a basic civil engineering degree. As a new geotechnical engineer, you can perform the entire soil investigation campaign, from the planning phase to the writing of the interpretative report.
