A director of physical security resides over all of his/her company’s assets within particular facilities in a region. This director is responsible for developing the standard practices which keep the company's facilities and products safe and continuously monitoring these practices to ensure they are adhering to all security policies. When the policies are not being followed, the director must make corrections and provide discipline when necessary.Some travel may be required for this position in order to gain in-field knowledge relating to company security. Security directors usually work with managers of company facilities and various security and compliance departments within the company. Working with legal departments may also be necessary in order to develop guidelines and receive legal advice. Different facilities may have different security threats depending on their locations; regardless of their nature, the director must always work to minimize these threats and eliminate them completely if possible.Security directors often oversee groups of security guards to ensure they are complying with all company rules.
