Course Description

You will become an Earth Economist who can offer evidence-based advice on global policy. You will be able to better understand and give advice to economists. Earth Economics is a new approach to policy analysis. It focuses on the global level, and uses empirical data to make its claims. Earth Economists are interested in sustainability (environmental, related to UN's SDGs), and heterodox (that means: non-mainstream) perspectives on the economy. Earth Economics is a timely introduction to basic economic concepts and tools. It also provides insights into the most relevant issues and developments in global production, growth, and governance. The provision of public goods worldwide is an important topic. Earth Economics highlights how important the United Nations and International Monetary Fund are to the provision of global public goods.
