Course Description

Learn key insights about electrification success

Our future cities must be greener to be sustainable and address climate change. Clean energy must replace fossil fuels for urban mobility (trips that are generated within a city).

This course, which lasts two weeks, is offered by EIT Urban Mobility. It focuses on the energy transition in cities and the possible solutions.

The past is a lesson in electrification of mobility

Urban mobility does not just refer to modes of transportation. Urban mobility does not only refer to the transport methods used, but also the city spaces that are available for the trips people take. This course will show you how town planning influences how fuel is used.

This knowledge will allow you to evaluate how clean energy has impacted urban mobility over time, focusing on specific examples. You'll learn about past successes and failures and how these lessons can be applied to future cities.

Take a look at the future and present of electrification

After you have evaluated the success and failures of other cities, you can start to think about your own. What solutions can you come up with to make the energy transition a success and ensure that urban mobility is met in the future?

You can practice your skills as an urban planner by reviewing your city's transport needs and objectives and how you can meet them using clean energy. You'll be able to see what is possible and what changes are needed.

Learn from passionate urban mobility experts

EIT's Urban Mobility initiative aims to make cities more livable and improve the way people move about them. EIT can show you how sustainable cities can be built, whether you are a citizen or a future urban planner.
