Identifying and Responding to Drug and Alcohol Addiction in Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Healthcare Practice

This course will give you an overview of addiction treatment options, including detoxification, harm reduction, and recovery. You'll learn from experts around the world and get introduced to assessment tools for addiction. In addition, you will learn how to administer naloxone if necessary and conduct brief interventions and screening. This course is for nurses and other healthcare professionals who are interested in drug and alcohol addiction treatment. This course is appropriate for both those with some addiction knowledge and those who have no previous knowledge. This course covers all ages, from pregnant mothers to seniors. Learn how to protect the health and well-being of those who use substances, and what the role of family members is. You will ultimately be able enhance your service delivery in addiction treatment. This course will discuss the practicalities involved in providing certain services, as well as the role of leadership when implementing new policies and practices for addiction treatment and recovery. The course will be delivered by Trinity College Dublin's addiction experts. They are also midwife and nurse experts and harm reduction specialists. The course creators are leaders in a new Healthy Addiction Treatment model. You'll also learn more about HAT. This course's purpose is to increase knowledge about addiction treatment methods in healthcare and, in the long-term, create more addiction specialists.
