Course Description

Did you ever wonder how information from real devices is transmitted to smartphones processors? Are you looking to make informed design decisions regarding sampling frequencies and bit width requirements for different types of sensors? Are you looking to learn how to influence the real world using actuators like stepper motors, LEDs, and generate notifications?

This course will teach you how to interface common sensors with actuators to the DragonBoard(tm), 410c hardware. The software will allow you to acquire sensor data, process it, and then actuate stepper motors or LEDs. For use in mobile-enabled devices. You'll also learn how to convert analog-to digital and digital-to analog formats.

Learning goals: You will be able:

1. For different sensors, estimate the sampling frequency and bit width.

2. To enable communication between common sensors and the DragonBoard410c, program GPIOs.

3. For sensors such as microphones, cameras and GPS, write data acquisition code.

4. Develop applications that process sensor data to take specific actions such as stepper motors, digital signage and gaming LED matrixes, and other advanced technologies.
