Fashion designers need to be able to create quick fashion illustrations. This is essential in order to convey the shapes, colors, and textures of their garments in a most efficient manner. It is important to accurately and beautifully represent your ideas on paper when creating a whole collection.
After graduating from Parsons School of Design, we started Bellavance. We have been privileged to have our brand featured on top editorial outlets such as Style.com and in retail shops like Opening Ceremony. Our pieces are not featured on pages or shelves until they are conceptualized through sketch and illustration.
What You Will Learn in This Class:
Bellavance uses fashion illustration to communicate with our manufacturers and team. It is common for us to be in situations where we have to produce these hand-drawn representations of our garments very quickly. This is why it is important to learn specific shortcuts and tricks that allow you to focus on what is most important, the clothing. We'll cover:
- Basic Fashion Body How to quickly sketch essential poses
- Detailing Shortcuts to represent hands, feet and hair with simple lines
- Fabric Rendering How to convey weight and texture of fabrics using washes or movement lines.
What you'll do in this Class:
These skills can be applied immediately to your own project. You will create a set three fashion illustrations that you can share with classmates for feedback.
If you are a designer, you can use your own designs. If not, you can illustrate designs from your favorite runway shows.
