Course Description

These lessons will teach you how to make ropes and pulleys using cloth simulation, and how to combine that with a mechanical device with all the animation controls. There will be two projects in this tutorial. The first project is intended to show you what to look out for when adding simulation to a rig. In nCloth, you will be able to create hinged, point and pivotal constraints. To move the cloth, set driven keys will be used. Finally, I'll show you how to stretch your ridged mechanical components. This will create a simulated device that interacts with the environment at a frame rate that allows for near real-time interaction. This second project will show you how to set up semi-mechanical simulated rigs. Expect to be able to not only learn about the rig's unique issues but also how to navigate them. Software required: Maya 2013.

Skills You Will Gain

What You Will Learn

All this will give a simulated rig that will interact with your environment at a frame rate that will allow for close to real time interaction

Finally I will be showing you how to deal with stretching in your ridged mechanical parts

Set driven keys will be used to help move the cloth to get the results we are after

Software required Maya 2013

The first is meant to teach you some things one needs to keep and eye out for when bringing simulation into a rig

The second project will give another example on how to go about setting up a semi mechanical simulated rig

This tutorial will have two project examples in it

You can expect to learn many of the exotic issues a rig like this will bring, but more importantly how to work your way around them

You will learn how to create pivot, point and hinged constraints within nCloth

You will learn how to create ropes and pulleys with cloth simulation and how to merge that with a mechanical rig with all the animation controls one would expect
