Description

Principal process engineers are responsible for analyzing process technologies and proposal support for engineering activities for their organization. These individuals are organized and have strong analytical skills to plan and implement different principal processes for engineering services or creation of products. They participate in the development of strict schedules, guidelines, and budgets for their departments. They work with other engineers to find ways to improve processes and find innovative solutions for determining priorities.

Some of their main functions include creating diagrams and processing simulations to verify the feasibility of the projects. They use a personal computer loaded with office and engineering software to modify process flow and block diagrams and adjust variables that can be scaled in the future. Principal process engineers review and approve data sheets to be implemented during the principal process. They actively participate in engineering training sessions to provide expert knowledge in principal processes and act as a mentor to junior engineers. They oversee correct completion of control schemes and approve engineering calculations in model scaled systems. These individuals work in a fast-paced environment and use their advanced multitasking skills to participate in several projects at once. They write and develop engineering documentation for future reference. Principal process engineers follow strict engineering codes to prevent incidents when completing engineering tasks. They report their progress to the principal process manager in their company. They are the main point of contact for vendors, engineering experts, and clients.

A bachelor's of engineering in processes or a related field is required for this job. Previous years of work experience in an engineering capacity can be helpful. Industry and leadership certifications are a plus.
