Course Description

Are you frustrated by the 3d Camera?

Are you unsure how to get Depth of Field to work for you? ?

Is it hard to understand the popup that appears when you create a new After Effects Camera? !

If you answered yes to any of these, you're in luck! This course is designed to be as comprehensive as possible, so that you have all the information I have about After Effects 3d camera by the time it is over.

The course is divided into five main sections:

  • All 3d cameras are not created equal
  • Under the Covers
  • How to animate the 3d camera
  • Tips & Tricks
  • Project

The 3d Camera Creation covers How to Create a 3-D Camera and the Camera Settings Window. This is due to the fact that most people don't know what they are looking at. I have broken down the Camera Settings Window into three easy-to-understand parts: Top, Middle, and Bottom. You should be clear about the Camera Settings Window by the end of this section.

Under The Covers explains the various ways to:

  • You can manipulate the 3D camera
  • Timeline settings: While we cover the Regluar settings throughout our course, we also spend some time exploring the additional settings such as Highlight and Iris.
  • Depth of Field: I will explain how After Effects creates this effect and how to adjust it. Also, I will show you how to understand the basics of how it works. This lesson will teach you how to use Depth of Field.
  • You can view your after effects screen in many different ways.

How to Animate a 3D Camera Looks at:

  • You have your Camera Tools at your disposal to help you move your camera
  • Motions Paths: What are they and how can you manipulate them
  • Keyframes for animating animation
  • How to use nulls effectively
  • Rove Across Time: What is it? Why do you need it? How to use it?

Next, Tips & Tricks is where I share some of the things that I have learned over my 20+ years of After Effects experience. These items include:

  • Layer ordering. I also cover the layer order within the timeline.
  • Active Camera. This is how it works and what you can do to make the most of it.
  • Precomp 3d layers. This functionality will change the way you use After Effects.
  • Boomerang effect. This is the problem that has plagued After Effects users more than any other. It happens and I will show you how to fix it in less than ten seconds.
  • Separate Dimensions This clever trick will give you more control of your 3d camera.
  • The wiggle expression. You can give your project the 'Hand Held" look without animating keyframes.
  • There are several options available to the camera: Linking Focus Distance To Point of Interest, Link Focus distance to Another Layer, and Setting Focus Distance To Layer.

This course was created with you in mind. It was created by someone who has been there. I wanted to ensure that you have a solid understanding of the 3d camera in order to be able to use it in your After Effects Projects.

You don't have to use the 3D Camera...be a master of it! !
