Course Description

Begin managing your microservices using Istio for IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service. This course teaches you how to control the flow of traffic to services, monitor the health of services, and protect your service mesh. Istio can be described as an open-source platform that lets you connect to, secure, and manage the microservices network that is also known as a service mesh on cloud platforms like Kubernetes within the IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service. With Istio you can control the network's traffic, balance load between Microservices, impose access policy and verify the identity of the service within the service mesh and much more. This course will help you will learn how to deploy Istio along with microservices to create a mock-up application called Guestbook. When you install Guestbook's microservices to the IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service cluster in which Istio can be installed, add Istio's Istio Envoy sidecar proxy into the microservices' pods. Certain configurations and features of Istio's Istio platform are in development and may changes based on feedback from users. Give a few months to stabilization before you can use Istio for production.
