Course Description

This course will cover the basics and techniques of material, colour and text within Blender. This course is not for beginners. If you are new to Blender, I recommend that you first take the essential course and then the 3D modeling basics before you start this course.

This course will discuss rendering engines in Blender and their impact on materials. Then we'll discuss how to create and assign material to 3D objects. We'll cover how to assign material multiple objects and vice versa, as well as how to assign multiple materials to one object. We will also discuss the fundamental theories behind color models, how bit per channel data affects color depth, and the underlaying theory behind Hexadecimal colors. We then move on to texture. We'll be discussing different types of texture. Next, we'll discuss how to create procedural textures in Blender. Next, we will learn how to import image-based textures. Blender allows you to have multiple layered textures with their own blending mode. Combining all these features can give you a wide range of texture effects. Next, we will learn more about UV editor and then a basic introduction to PBR which is the current trend in texturing workflows in the computer graphics world. After learning all this, we will be able to create a lotus leaf object using only one face. We will use color texture and alpha textures. Another alternative is to use RGBA photos. Next, we will discuss different types of bump texturing such as normal and height. Also known as displacement map. Finally, we'll continue to work on the project by adding a height map and then specular maps.

This course will give you solid foundation about how material, colors and textures work, which can be used with any 3D software. You will also learn how to use Blender's material, color, and texture tools. Join now to take your 3D skills to the next level.
