Course Description

This tutorial will show you how to make realistic fur for your game animals. Let's start by talking about some important points when modeling and sculpting game animals. We will discuss whether we need to sculpt fur or what loops are best to ensure that our animals can animate in the game. Next, we will texturize the main mesh of our dog. We'll first explode and bake off the ambient and normal occlusion maps. Next, we will import our dog into Substance painter and start painting our base texture. We'll be discussing how to map fur flow, how to block fur color, how blend colors to unify fur, and how to add subtle detail so textures pop. We'll finish the game design training by learning how texture fur with alpha properties. This will break up our dog's smooth silhouette. Software requirements: Substance Painter, 3ds Max 2015 and ZBrush 4R6, PhotoshopCS4.
