Course Description

This tutorial will show you how to create a sci-fi weapon by using hard surface modeling techniques. We will first learn how to create silhouettes and how constructive criticism can be used to improve the design. Then, we will begin to block out the basic shapes for our weapon. After the block-out model is complete, we will use a simple render in Photoshop to paint over the model. This will give us a better understanding of the details that we desire from our high poly model. Next, we will model the high resolution model as well as the game resolution model. Next, we will wrap up the course with laying out UVs, baking ambient occlusion maps and then applying them back to the game-model. Software required: 3ds max 2013.
