Course Description

You have probably seen corrosion at work in the form of rusty cars, leaking pipes or tarnished silverware. The Corrosion@Manchester team has teamed up with AkzoNobel to create this course. It will explain why metals corrosion, the consequences for the environment, the cost of corrosion, and the best ways to prevent it. This course can be used by students, educators, professionals, and householders. A full understanding of corrosion science requires knowledge in materials science, electrochemistry, physics and engineering design. However this course doesn't require extensive knowledge. The course is designed to mirror elements of The University of Manchester's Corrosion Control Engineering Teaching Programme for undergraduates and postgraduates at the master's level. It can also be used by students as an additional learning resource.
