The supervisor of customer service is accountable for the overall customer service and customer satisfaction. The supervisor of customer service must effectively manage and inspire their team of customer service reps in junior positions and give employees feedback on their performance as well as proper training and direction. The most important aspect of this job is managing the team and making sure that the needs of customers are addressed promptly. The supervisor of customer service must be knowledgeable about the products and services offered by the company as well as the customers who are served. Communication with customers is a common element of the job.
High school graduation or GED generally will be required to fill this job and a preference is given to graduates from colleges. Experience in leading teams is essential. The supervisor of customer service must be a good communicator and be able to communicate their ideas and thoughts clearly. The ability to demonstrate strong leadership and organizational abilities is also an advantage.
