The senior video editor is accountable for directing a group of video editors through their editing processes, ensuring an overall view of the actions of the team, and making sure that the final product is in line with the expectations of the client.

Senior video editors need to collaborate throughout the editing process music, scripting animation, etc. in order to make sure that final output doesn't diverge from the expectations. This requires a strong communication skill to ensure that abstract concepts be communicated and understood in order so that everyone is on the same level. Video editors in senior positions are also accountable for the maintenance of all archived backups and archives in the event of an emergency or loss. Alongside overseeing the their employees, the editors also need to be skilled in editing tasks they are expected to complete and could be required to work in a separate manner on specific segments to keep up with the pace.
