Master LS-Dyna with this Trending Skill-Lync Course

Course Overview

LS-Dyna for structural mechanics is an online self-paced certification course by Skill-Lync that helps you build and advance your understanding of LS-Dyna, its functions and applications. The instructors are well-versed with the LS-Dyna program and are always available in case you face any technical difficulties.

You get to learn how to plot results and debug issues along with deck preparations. You get to understand the difference between implicit and explicit solvers and gain hands-on experience. Additionally, this course will help you understand how to model a pedestrian head impact simulation and calculate the Head Injury Criteria (HIC) value.

"I used to be a CAE Modeler and was only allotted the work of meshing, but after completing this course, I was offered the position of a (Finite Element Analysis) FEA Analyst, a role which pays much higher."

Course Structure

It takes 24 weeks to complete the course. The first week’s challenge involves the unit system, and the second week’s challenge comprises deriving equations on implicit and explicit methods. And once you are done with the basics, you get to learn about Graphical User Interface (GUI) software and how to handle it.

In the later parts of the course, you will be taught the deck preparations for LS-Dyna, starting from the basic simulators like drop tests to complex ones like pedestrian head impact on hood and bird strike on jet engine blades. There are challenges every week in the course.
Each assessment can be taken only once, so I recommend re-checking your answer multiple times before submitting it. Each week's curriculum covered in the videos is more than enough to solve the challenges.

This course contains various modules and recorded videos. The videos are segregated weekly; after each week, we get to work on a challenge. The challenges contain questions and the necessary input files, which we need to note down in the text space provided on the website. We need to upload results like key files and animation along with the solutions in Google Drive.

Insider Tips

  • Understand the Fundamentals: You need to understand the fundamentals of Hypermesh and ANSA preprocessor before you begin with this course.
  • Stay Organized: I recommend buying a notebook and jotting down all the key points. I used to have different color pens and use them to create mind maps and flowcharts. Make a folder on your PC and keep separate folders for each challenge. It should contain all the files required for the challenge.
  • Upgrade your Knowledge: I recommend choosing a master-level advanced course so that you can learn about the designs and the simulations. Skill-Lync’s Postgraduate program for CAE will be the best choice.

Final Take

I am currently working at HCL Technologies. I used to be a CAE Modeler and was only allotted the work of meshing, but after completing this course, I was able to upskill my job profile in the company. After an interview, the company offered me the position of (Finite Element Analysis) FEA Analyst.

This course not only helped me in learning the software but also helped me understand the basics of engineering. As an FEA Analyst, I'm also able to earn more than I did previously. I fully believe that this domain will have a huge demand in the future. Salaries can touch more than INR 24,00,000 per annum for a manager in the FEA domain in India.

The analytical methodology of the program has been in use since the 1960s. Since its first use, FEA has grown and developed into a benchmark for design engineering worldwide. It has spawned several commercial software packages that are now being used worldwide, such as LS-DynaABAQUS, ANSYS, NX Nastran, and Autodesk Inventor.

In the future, Finite Element methods will be able to establish themselves as an important tool in the design and production of innovative, efficient, and highly reliable products. FEA applications are so versatile that they can be used right from making a heart stent to a next generation aircraft like the Boeing 787.
