Course Description

Over the course of three months, you'll learn Computational Fluid Dynamics theory about internal flows. You will also focus on simulating Superchargers, Turbochargers, and the Centrifugal Pump.

Throughout the course you will be using the following software:

  • CONVERGE STUDIO: For setting up the cases and providing BCs
  • CYGWIN/CMD - Command-line window for running the simulation
  • PARAVIEW: Post-Processing Software (to post-process results

This problem will help you to understand key concepts such as how fluid flows through turbomachines, where fluid separates, and the recirculation area where it is generated. The problem will allow you to examine how the shape and function of the outlet runners and blades affect the results. You can also plot the performance curve for all applications. Converge meshing is automated which saves you a lot of time and effort.

This course will teach you how to model turbulence, solve any internal flow problems, and clean up complicated geometry. You will also learn how to prepare the case for multiphase. You will also learn important theories such as Turbulence (RANS), Cavitation, and CHT.
