Course Description

This course builds on the Financial Accounting: Foundations or Financial Accounting: Advanced Topics, and introduces you into formal foundations in financial accounting. This course is designed to help you understand the technical terms involved in financial accounting such as debit, credit, and T-account. Although it is not essential to understand and interpret financial statements or to have a basic understanding of advanced topics in accounting, knowledge about technical aspects of financial accounting will help you to do so. The University of Illinois' iMSA Program requires formal financial accounting as a prerequisite course. We will also be using the same terminology throughout our courses in the iMSA program.

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is consistently ranked among the top three accounting programs in the country. Now, they offer a master's degree in accounting at an affordable tuition rate. It's completely online. The iMSA is a fully accredited Master of Accountancy program. Students graduate with a highly respected master's degree. You may be eligible for credit-bearing courses if you take an open course. Coursera courses can be used to show readiness and strengthen your application to the iMSA if you do not have the prerequisites. For more information on this exciting online master's in accounting program, refer to this link: https://www.coursera.org/university-programs/imsa
