Course Description

Graphic design can be found everywhere, in many forms and on both screen and printed media. However, it always consists of images and words that communicate a goal. The four-course sequence teaches students the basics of graphic design. It covers historical context, process, communication, image-making, and typography. A capstone project is the culmination of the sequence. This project combines all of the skills learned in each course with peer feedback to create a professionally-respected branding project. This specialization is designed to provide learners with the necessary tools and concepts for making and communicating in graphic design. This core skill will prepare learners for formal graphic design studies and provide a foundation for further study in interface design, motion graphics and editorial design.
