Course Description

This course teaches a complete overview about the origins of vertebrates. It consists of four lessons. The students will examine the variety of Palaeozoic lineages in a phylogenetic as well as evolutionary context. The course examines major novelties in vertebrate evolution, including fins and jaws. The course also covers key Canadian fossil locations, such as the Burgess Shale in British Columbia and Miguasha in Quebec.
