Course Description

The greatest danger in emerging technology is the perpetuation bias in automated technologies that are dependent on data sets. Unintentional or intentional, solutions that are racial, ethnic, or demographically biased can lead to social and economic inequalities. This course is one of five in the Certified Ethical Emerging Technologist professional certificate. It is intended for learners who want to promote ethical use of data-driven technology. Students will be able to understand the characteristics of emerging technologies and how they can help them create data-driven solutions. Learn about the different types of bias and popular ethical theories that can be applied to emerging technologies. Also, you will examine legal privacy and legal concepts in relation to technology such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science. The course teaches you how to identify which types of bias can cause the most risk and what principles you can use to respond strategically to ethical considerations.
