Course Description

Data is often used to predict future events. We want to know how data is structured and connected. This course will teach you how to explore the interconnectedness and structure of data using structural equation modeling (SEM), R programming language, and the lavaan program. SEM will help you identify hidden and manifest variables, create measurement models and evaluate accuracy, and fix poor-fitting models. The classic SEM datasets, such as Bollen (1989) and Holzinger-Swineford (1939), will be explored. An example of a multi-factor model will be presented using Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale. This course will help you gain a better understanding of your data.
