Course Description

This MARI tutorial will show you how to texture a reptilian dinosaur in MARI. After setting up MARI so that we can work efficiently, it is time to get into the paint and apply the base colors to the different parts of the Velociraptor. We will then continue to paint the diffuse color information and gradually become more detailed. We will temporarily halt our painting to learn how to add more detail using our custom normal map within MARI. Next, we'll learn how to make the creature feel natural by adding dirt in different areas. Finally, we will create a specular map and then export our textures to MARI. You will learn how to create realistic textures for prehistoric reptilian creatures by the end of this tutorial. MARI 1.5v1 is required.

What You Will Learn

5v1

After completing this tutorial, you will be familiar with a process that will allow you to paint realistic textures for any prehistoric reptilian creature

After spending a little bit of time setting up our MARI project so we can work efficiently, we will dive right in and paint base diffuse colors for the various parts of the velociraptor

During this process, we will pause our painting only momentarily so we can learn how to add additional surface detail by creating our own custom normal map right inside of MARI

From here, we will continue to paint our diffuse color information, gradually becoming more detailed

Lastly, we will paint a custom specular map before baking and exporting our textures out of MARI
