Sometimes we forget the things we need to recall, other times we can remember exactly what we wish to forget and even remember events that didn't happen or were never there. Let me show you the basics of memory, how it works and why sometimes it fails. My recent book a Memory and Movies, What Films Can Teach us About Memory (MIT Press 2015), a will be used to introduce the science of memory. I'll focus on a few topics that are popular. You will be able to understand the different elements of memory by watching clips from a variety of films. We love movies for their entertainment value.
