Institute Overview

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), is the principal international standard organization for the World Wide Web. The World Wide Web Consortium was established in 1994 by Tim Berners Lee and is currently headed by him. It is composed of member organizations who have full-time staff that work together to develop standards for the World Wide Web. W3C currently has 443 members as of 21 October 2019. W3C engages in outreach and education, develops software, and provides an open forum for discussion on the Web.
