The University of Jammu was established in 1969 and is a state university. It is a public-owned co-ed university that offers a wide variety of courses to its students. The University of Jammu has more than 14,000 enrolled students and has more than 300 faculty members. The campus has a size of more than 100 acres. JU Jammu has been approved by the UGC and has been accredited by NAAC with an ‘A+’ grade. However, in NIRF 2021 Ranking, the University of Jammu has been ranked 66th in the university category. As per the NIRF ranking 2020, the varsity was ranked 90th in the overall category.
