Established in 1984, NEC Kovilpatti was built by the National Educational and Charitable Trust, Kovilpatti, Thoothukudi district under a self-financing model sanctioned by the Tamil Nadu government. The college is an autonomous institute affiliated to the Anna University, Chennai.
