The Indian Institute of Management, Shillong, established in 2008, was the seventh IIM in India. Previously recognised as Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management Shillong (RGIIM), IIM Shillong is amongst the leading business schools in India. It is a public and fully autonomous institute, which boasts of one of the most diverse academic strengths among the countrywide B-schools. As per NIRF rankings 2021, the Indian Institute of Management Shillong secured the 23rd position in the management category. In 2020, the institute was ranked 30th in the same category.

Apart from having internet connectivity, the campus LAN has enhanced security features and can support wireless communication. IIMS also has an agreement with Microsoft, which allows every student to get the latest operating systems and antivirus programmes for their laptops.
