Founded in 1891 as The Goldsmiths’ Company’s Technical and Recreative Institute, the Goldsmiths, University of London is a public research university known for creativity and innovation in the southeast part of London, England. Established with an initial goal of promoting knowledge, technical skills, and health of industrial workers and people of working and artisan classes, the University has grown to incorporate a close-knit community, a creative powerhouse, a rich academic heritage, and become a thought-provoking place, after the Institute was merged with the University of London in 1904.
