Course Overview
Google UX Design Professional Certificate is a series of courses offered on Coursera that provide learners with the skills and knowledge to become proficient in User Experience (UX) design. The UX design expert certificate program comprises 6 courses covering various UX design topics, including user research, design thinking, prototyping, and usability testing and will assist you in building a successful UX Designer career.
Emily is a UX researcher at Google and took the second course of the program. The way she explained the terms were quite beginner-friendly.
"The traits of an architect led me to choose this course. Fulfilling client needs, keeping the client needs as a priority, and designing physical spaces with functionality and aesthetics are similar to the UX design with digital products and users"
- Shalinika Rajesh
Course Structure
Throughout the UX experts program, learners will work on real-world design projects, allowing them to apply the concepts and techniques they learn in a practical setting. They will also have the opportunity to build a portfolio of UX design work to showcase to potential employers.
The courses are taught by experienced UX designers and are designed to be flexible, allowing learners to study at their own pace. The program is ideal for individuals interested in a UX design career or who want to enhance their design skills. Upon completion of the program, learners will receive a certificate from Google, which can be added to their resume and LinkedIn profile to demonstrate their skills and expertise in UX design.
Any individual can study the course structure, and it is self-paced. The videos and readings are provided for every topic related to UX. Starting with what UX is and ending with the job titles in the UX field are explained through videos and readings in the first course.
Insider Tips
To get the best out of this course, I have included some important tips that you might find useful.
- Make Notes for Revision Purposes
One could get the best out of this course by maintaining the repository of the knowledge gained during the course and revisiting and applying it later.
- Assessment/Grading Assignment
There is no limit to assessment. The highest mark was considered for the end grade. Glossary was provided with definitions at the end of each week. Assessments are given by the end of each week, and they depend on the topic of that specific week and can be done in 1 or 2 hours.
Final Take
The traits of an architect-led me to choose this course. Fulfilling client needs, keeping the client needs as a priority, and designing physical spaces with functionality and aesthetics are similar to the UX design with digital products and users.
This entirely beginner-friendly course introduces the fundamentals of UX in the first course. The students could enroll in Accenture's digital skills course. Since UX is booming right now, it is relevant. I have yet to learn about the other suggestions.
