What is the best way for astronomers to approach their quest for life elsewhere in the universe? What can we learn from the explosion of discoveries about exoplanets? Is it possible that Earth is not the home of all life in the Universe. This course will explore the emerging field of Astrobiology, a multidisciplinary discipline. Astrobiology is driven by the advancement of telescopes in space and on ground, as well as new insight into how life evolved on Earth. This course covers everything from how exoplanets can be detected to the Chemistry that proves that life is possible in all parts of the Universe. To build an understanding of the subject, we will be following experts from astronomy and geology. Students will have the ability to determine whether a planet is habitable and the likelihood of life there by the end of the final assignment. This course will prepare students to talk about the latest exoplanet discoveries and news.
