Course Description

The art of modeling requires that the artist thinks in 3D. But how do you do this when your computer screen, pencil and paper work in 2D? Character Head Modeling: An Alternative Approach will help you understand the difference between 2D and 3D thinking by showing you a new approach to 3D modeling. This is different from traditional methods like box modeling. You will first learn how to create schematics from photographs and drawings of the face. Next, you'll discover how contour lines can be used. Next, you will learn how to create a 3D linear NUBS cage. This will allow you to build your head model from the back to the ears. This course will teach you a new way to model your head that will allow you to create more realistic character models. Software required: Maya 2016, Photoshop cc 2015.
