Course Description

Description welcome to command line 101: this course is for mac os and linux users. This course is ideal for those who are new to command line or want to learn it for a new job. We will start from the beginning, and assume that you have never used a command line before. We will begin by exploring a command-line program and than move on to some simple commands. We will create new files and folders on different parts of the computer over the course of this class. We will even be able to edit files directly from the command line! Why should you learn the command line? Although it may seem old, the command line is still very common and powerful. The command line is used to execute Python scripts, maintain websites (like websites) , compress images and run node.js or any other frontend tooling that allows for website development. It is true that every program with a graphical user interface is just that: a program that accepts raw commands. Your computer will run more efficiently if you don't have to worry about the graphical interface. I have used the command line for many years to perform many tasks, including transcoding video (like the ones you see here) , losslessly compressing images, and running large numbers of servers for large websites.
