Course Description

MODO's modeling and painting tools are powerful and simple to use. We can create a cartoon character to see how MODO's modeling and painting tools can be used to create organic shapes, follow established designs, and finish off with texture maps. Our design will be simple but attractive and will allow us to focus on the tools and techniques, while also creating something enjoyable. To start, we will add images as a reference. Then, we'll begin to build the geometry from scratch. After shaping the main body, we will create more complicated topology for our head. We can quickly and efficiently create our characters using tools like Loop Slice, Edge Slice and Bevel. Parts like teeth, eyes and horns can be created from either primitive shapes or using existing geometry. After the model is constructed, we will look at possible UV layouts before creating color textures. We'll also add bump and ambient occlusion to the character. You'll end up with a cartoon character that is ready to be animated and rigged. MODO 701.
