Course Description

Introduction to GD&TGeometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T), a quality control technique that allows for the definition of allowable variation in size and form, orientation, location, and location using symbols. GD&T's purpose is to accurately define parts and assembly geometry.

This course will teach you about Siemens NX CAD software, which can be used to design, build, and erect parts. In this course, you will learn industry best practices in design and drafting to ensure the correct manufacturing of components. Practical examples will show you how to apply different tolerances and datums for parts. A project will be presented to you that introduces you to drafting with the GD&T application. It will involve designing a butterfly valve.

What You Will Learn

Circular and Total Run Outs

Difference between traditional dimensioning and GD&T

Flatness, straightness, cylindricity, and circularity tolerances

Profile of a surface and profile of a line

Understanding true position

What are datums and how to apply datums to parts

Target Students

Design engineer designs the components, but before a design is manufactured there will be a dimensional engineer who will provide the manufacturing constraints in the form of GD&T plans to manufacture a part precisely

Professionals working in the industry can take up this course to enhance their skills

Students studying this course will have job opportunities in the automotive and manufacturing domain as a dimensional engineer or a production support engineer

This course can be taken up by freshers who want to work in the industry as dimensional engineers

This course helps students and professionals understand where to apply the various GD&T symbols based on the standards for manufacturing and reproducibility of components

Within experience they can be a GD&T lead engineer
