Course Description

COBOL appears to have more lives that a herd if cats. COBOL's death has been predicted for many years, if not decades. According to some estimates, there are over 200 BILLION lines COBOL code - and more code being created every day. This course, Getting Started With Mainframe COBOL, will teach you many basics of the language of COBOL. You'll use it to solve real-world business problems. You'll first learn about the history and origins of COBOL. The COBOL program structure will be next. The course will end with an overview of data types, followed by the opportunity to try your hand at creating a COBOL program. You will be able to write your own COBOL programs by the end of the course.
