Business leaders and those in non-profits are increasingly working across borders in multicultural environments. It is possible to work with foreign customers and suppliers, be part of an internationally dispersed team or as an expatriate manager for an assignment. It is possible to be part of an online global community or work with international partner organisations as a development worker. Your effectiveness as an international leader is dependent on your ability to understand and manage intercultural behaviors. This course will bring together a group of Bocconi alumni and Bocconi faculty to explore intercultural leadership theory and organization behavior. Research from social science has shown that our behaviour is different in various cultural settings. This allows us to work more efficiently across cultures. Psychology, sociology, neurology, sociology, and anthropology provide insight that allows us to determine what influences individual and collective decision-making, how it affects performance of teams, as well as what factors can be used to build and utilize social networks. The shared experience and knowledge of international leaders allows for us to find concrete ways to improve intercultural leadership competency, as well as to recognize common leadership challenges.
It's a wonderful opportunity to improve your leadership abilities and reflect upon your behavior. What are your most important decision-making methods? How do you motivate others and what are your motivations? What is the best way to successfully integrate different perspectives and skills within a group? Are you more comfortable with close relationships among trusted colleagues or with an extended network of friends from different walks of life?
This course is for those who want to understand how organisations behave, take decisions, and develop leadership skills.
We look forward to meeting you on your journey of discovery and learning.
