Course Description

Although rigging a biped can be a difficult task, it is one of the most basic types of animations that you will need to know. Introduction to Rigging with Maya 2017 will cover many methods for rigging in Maya 2017 as well as how to integrate them into the character's gestalt. You will first plan the features that you want to add to the final rig. This includes FK/IK switchable arms, back, stretchy spine and shoulder controls. You will then work your way down the leg, starting at the hips. Next, create IK controls for the legs using a knee vector and an "inversely grouped" foot. Additionally, you will learn how to create controls for your arms and fingers. You'll also be able to look at skinning techniques with a focus on binding and problem area. After completing this course, you will be able to create rigs. This course emphasizes feature-based planning which is a starting point for rigging and divining the individual needs of each one. Software required: Maya 2017.
